Blue & Gold

From the album Geometry

If I could be your friend -
Trust me I would
You ever see it work that way?
I’m not so sure it should
You never stole my heart
I let you have it for free
I thought I’d get it back
and you’d quit haunting me

But what could we do
with paths so far away
and choices few
Come back another day
And I’m sure you too
felt this same way
A slight touch of blue
that wouldn’t go away

I rented it out
It’s been carved up and sold
and the pieces that are left
they’re a bluish gold
In case you're wonderin' if this one's for you
beneath the curves, between the lines - here's your clue
you were sittin’ across from me
across the sea
The perfect circle
It’s pure geometry

But what could we do
Paths so far away
Choices few
Perhaps another day
And I’m sure you too
felt the same way
a slight touch of blue
that never went away

Now what do we do
Paths so far away
And choices few
………………..
and I’m sure you too
feel the same way
Embrace the blue
It doesn’t go away
