That
dollar of ours goes a long way offshore sometimes. Take the Dominican
Republic for instance. You can do all sorts of things in the Dominican
for cheap. A serious concern in this country is health care. It is
lacking. It is poor. It needs help. With
a relative few dollars, whole municipalities can have access to health
care.
No
one can argue that the countries just off the coast of Florida aren’t
our neighbors. SkipALunch
- SaveANation™ seeks
to gather funds for the purpose of providing healthcare to areas
of these neighboring countries that lack it.
The
concept of skipping a meal or a few meals is a faith-based practice
that is found in all major world religions. It’s called fasting.
(Fasting is not recommended if your health is poor. Always consult
your physician if you have any concerns.)
In
our country, there’s another practice that is deeply ingrained
in many of our religious faithful. It is the practice of going out to
eat after church, temple or mosque.
SkipALunch
- SaveANation™
asks those religious faithful to forego the weekly trip to their favorite
restaurant just once. This program asks them to instead send what would’ve
been spent at lunch to the SkipALunch
- SaveANation™
Fund. If only 10% of the millions of families who go out to lunch after
worship service were to do this just once,
we could provide a better way of life to our neighbors who have less
than we do.
And
if it works in the Dominican Republic, we’ll move on to Haiti.
