"Those
military leaders had better just get in line," said
Rumsfeld, "Don't tell me how to do my
job and don't tell me what works best. Paul
and I have been studying this and planning
for it since the late 80s. Remember when I
said Germany and France were Old Europe? Well,
you guys are about to be Old Army if you don't
shape up and fly right or get your ships ship
shape or whatever military metaphor you want
to use."
Carlo Rosselli, a hat maker from Milan, was approached by "some
scary guys who brought me these huge measurements. Said they wanted a
really nice crown."
Rosselli , whose family's haberdashery was commissioned by Italian authorities
in the 30s to build customized headwear for Mussolini, was a little skeptical.
"I'm thinking, 'no way is anybody's head this big,'" said Rosselli.
Retired generals and current senior officers have reportedly been meeting
online and in undisclosed locations. Rumsfeld is not ignorant to the
rumblings within the military.
"If anybody's got some sort of Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Gene Hackman
fantasy that they're going to do something brave and American, let me warn them
now, you will be making a big mistake."
When asked what Rumsfeld meant by those comments, President Bush responded,
"Yeah. What he said."
