RFB
Website Undergoes Yet Another Design Overhaul
(FLORIDA,
USA.) Radio Free Babylon™'s website at www.radiofreebabylon.com
has undergone one more facelift.
"It was time to let the random visitor see upfront
what we're hiding here at our website," said Kimberly
Wilson of RFB, "Most of our hits result in instant
bounce, which is a horrible prospect when calculating
ROI. Research indicates that our high bounce-rate came
as a result of visitors coming to our site,
saying to
themselves,
'Where the hell am I and how did I get here?' and quickly
backing out."
With that in mind, Wilson and her web development
team set out to create a navigational system that would
allow
the casual viewer to see everything RFB has to offer,
no matter what page they accidentally landed on.
"Let's face it," said Wilson, "People get to RFB searching
some scary and weird stuff. Some are so weird, I'm
afraid to have these people connecting to our server.
But as long as they're here, they may as well find
out what we're about."
Described by industry insiders as "pretty cool," RFB's
new look combines the look and feel of a real magazine
with the ease and fluidity of the web.
"Is fluidity a word?" asks Wilson, "I
mean, we know some people hate the whole 'try to duplicate
the look
and feel of a real piece of paper' thing, but we think
we've done it in a way that is appealing, even if the
print is a little fine and hard to read."
RFB executives expect to keep the new look "until
we get sick of it."
"This happens frequently," said Davis Summerfield
of Comatose Llama Records, a subsidiary of Radio Free Babylon™, "The Executive Management Team issues orders
and everyone jumps and scrambles to make the new website.
Everyone pats themselves on the back for a month or
two, then they all hate it and issue new orders to
change it. Typical corporate BS. But I will allow that
the new look is a vast improvement over the old site,
which
frankly was a huge pile of crap. This new site is a
much smaller pile - and less stinky."
