FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RFB
Gone to the Blogs
(FLORIDA,
USA.) Radio Free Babylon™'s Grounds Maintenance Foreman
has asked company officials for permission to create
an online blog on the RFB website at www.radiofreebabylon.com.
Company officials have reviewed the request and granted
the employee permission to create an online diary,
provided it is produced on the employee's own time
and that the employee understands, and signs that
he understands, that he is not to be compensated
in any way for his efforts. Additionally, the company
will retain and possess all monies and other gifts
that may arise as a result of the employee's blog
while the employee shall assume all legal risks and/or
liablilities. The employee also understands that
he is not to defame, insult, malign or cast in bad
light the company or any of its Executive Management
Team. The employee further understands that his writing
shall at all times reflect the company's Core Values
Statement, if the company ever comes up with one
of those.
“I'm
just having fun writing," said the foreman, "You
know, I give the company all I got during the day
- sometimes weekends too. But after hours, that's
me and the keyboard, huntin' and peckin' out some
random scratch. Now, as for the company keepin' all
profits and stuff, that's fine. I know you might
see that as 'the man keepin' me down' and all, but
really - it's just me gettin' some free experience.
If this things takes off, I might be a commodity
and find myself lured to other offers, if you know
what I mean."
"We'd been reading about blogs and all that nonsense in magazines, and we
were hoping it was just a fad," said company spokesperson Kimberly Wilson, "But
then the whole Dan Rather fiasco was uncovered by a blogger, so we knew we'd
better jump on the bandwagon. We weren't exactly thrilled with the idea of a
blogger on staff, and none of us wanted to do it. Then this guy in maintenance
steps up and volunteers. Fine. At least we've got a blog now. No one is really
proofreading or checking his stuff yet, and if he gets in trouble, it's all on
him."
Known as the Babylonian Blog, the foreman's "Random
Scratch" features pop-up pictures and links to other areas of RFB's domain,
as well as links to other news and information sources.
