RFB Songwriter Takes 3rd Place

(FLORIDA, USA.) A representative from Radio Free Babylon™'s Music Division stunned the drunken crowd at the 2nd Annual Philips Phile Slam Phest by taking 3rd place. The standing room only crowd at Dubsdread Country Club in Winter Park was clearly in violation of some sort of fire code.

“That guy was my favorite,” said host Jim Philips the following day on his afternoon show heard locally in Orlando on WTKS, speaking of the RFB entrant.

"The winner of the competition used excessive profanity and lewd and bizaree references to win over the mostly wasted audience," announced an RFB spokesperson, "RFB's entrant was clearly the better and more skilled presenter. In fairness to the 2nd place guy, he was pretty good and it may have come down to a duel between him and our guy had that other idiot not been there."

The field of speakers started at 25 and was narrowed to five after one reading. RFB's entrant memorized the elaborate and hilarious "The Buggs" which had audience members on their feet pumping their fists in the air.

"Well, beer will do that to some people," said the songwriter.

The RFB finalist entered round 2 with the less-than-stellar "Talk To Me (Andre Cliche)," which though delightful, was no match for the winner's "poem" about naming his future children all sorts of profane names and murdering Santa Claus.

"Rousing stuff, even if he did have to read it off a page. RFB's representative again spoke his poetry from memory. Had we been briefed on the rules, we would've finished with "Truck for a Buck," on paper, and wiped the floor with that little twerp. His poetry was puke," said the spokesperson.

"Oh, I wouldn't go that far," said RFB's Slam Phest representative, "He was entertaining. He made us all laugh. He was funny. He has to go to New York for his prize for first place. Yuck. I wouldn't go to New York if you paid me. Or sent me. Or I won, or whatever."
