FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Radio
Free Babylon™Gets Rid of Chaff, Or is Just Lazy
(FLORIDA,
USA.) Radio Free Babylon™ has once again rearranged the structure of their website at www.radiofreebabylon.com.
RFB's Head
of Creative Services, Davis Summerfield, said "We had a bunch of dormant stuff on the homepage, plus some other categories that we felt we could do without. It was time to ramp up our efforts in this area and deliver
on some key actionable items."
"What Mr. Summerfield is saying," said Kimberly Wilson, spokesperson
for RFB, "is that he could no longer keep up the pace with the blog and the podcasts and the fake news stories."
"That's
not what I'm saying at all," said Summerfield, "When we stood back and assessed the popularity of our blog, our podcasts and our fake news stories, we found a disconnect with the audience
in certain key areas of functionality. We believe we've addressed those
concerns with this new restructure."
"What
Mr. Summerfield is saying is that he wasn't up to the task of producing frequent podcasts and that his other blog, Where's My Jetpack?, was eating up too much of his time." said Wilson.
With a
redirect under Babylonian Blog that sends visitors to Where's My Jetpack?, as well as a stripped down homepage that no longer features the blog or direct links to the podcasts, the new RFB site is "better" according to Summerfield. The Creative Department also
added a new font to the main titles within the various categories..
But the most drastic change for RFB's website comes with the removal of some categories.
Said Wilson, "When we looked at the focus group results of our "useless news" category, we found that visitors stopped coming to that side of the site when we stopped writing those stories. That has been a definite drawback to visitor retention. It was time to ditch that lame pile of crap."
"What
Ms. Wilson is saying," said Summerfield, "is that she never helped me write those stoires and doesn't understand writer burnout."
"Mr.
Summerfield means 'laziness,'" said Wilson
Some within RFB are still clamoring for more change, hoping to bring
the website up to what they call, "at least 1999." There has
been talk of removing all of the powder-blue highlights that still pepper
the site.
"There
will always be factions, disenfranchised elements, consisting usually
of wannabe artists, who will never be happy with anything," said
Summerfield, "As head of Creative Services here at RFB, I take
great pride in the projects my staff is able to deliver on a limited
budget and with limited manpower. As for the powder-blue thing, I'm
not that big on it either, but changing it will be a major pain. I'm
just not ready for that kind of commitment."
