From
the album Geometry
He
was a smilin’ dude in his new Z3
He was stylin’ too in some fresh khakis
He saw an old friend and said, “Long time no see,”
He saw a young lady and said, “Hey, darlin’, can I buy you a
drink?”
And with his hand in his pocket and a sly wink said,
“What’s a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?”
Well,
he thought he was smooth
but I could tell that she could tell what he was thinkin’
when he told the barkeep, “Two of whatever the little lady’s
drinkin’”
He
served ‘em up and before I knew
Andre and his lady were gettin’ stewed
He saw an opportunity and said real slick, “Your place or mine?”
She giggled a bit and said, “Not tonight.”
Talk
to me
Talk to me
Come on , baby
Talk to me
No
tellin’ where they went that night
But you know Andre – he handled it right
He probably told the barman, “Keep the change”
And “of course I’ll still respect you” to his new-found
flame
Andre – he’s
got class
Andre - he knows where it’s at
He ain’t never without somethin’ to say
He knows the score – and how to play
Talk
to me
Talk to me
Come on , baby
Talk to me
But
when he’s old and gray and gettin’ kinda
senile
And the Z3 is kinda outta style
Nobody gonna know
That
he used to be Andre Cliché
The flashy dude from yesterday
The guy who knew just what to say
And
now his lines are confused
And no one understands
So he tries to tell them with his hands
But they don’t hear
and it’s just as well
Andre checks into his motel
To disappear into obscurity
With no one to talk to but his TV
Talk to me
Talk to me
Come on, people
Talk to me
(With
an obvious tip of the hat to Frank Zappa)
